Sticks n’ Skins – The Sessions

Paul M. Quin, spoke on behalf of Sticks n’ Skins – The Sessions regarding entertainment law and contracts. Additional panelists included Dom Famularo (Global Drumming Ambassador), Carolos Guzman (Tour Manager) Joe Hibbs (from Mapex Drums), Liberty Devitto (international recording artist), and Don Bennett (Drum Retailer Educator). The Sessions - “Your Path to Success” seminar


Paul Quin, Entertainment and Litigation Lawyer, joined the panel when The Sessions held the “Your Path to Success” seminar on September 19 at The Theater Arts Production Company School (TAPCO) in the Bronx NY. The seminar was attended by the students at the school, who highly praised the event. Topics included marketing, networking, self-promotion, entertainment law, image maintenance and performance fundamentals.




Other panelists included Don Famularo, The Drumming World’s Global Ambassador; Will Calhoun, Drummer/Producer/ Ethnomusicologist; Liberty DeVitto, Drummer/Recording Artist; Joe Hibbs, Mapex Artist Relations/Product Development Manager; and Carlos Guzman, Production Manager.

Shaun Hopper will headline the Capitol Theatre on September 14

July 12-14, 2012 Summer NAMM

Paul Quin was invited to be a panelist at Summer NAMM (National Association Music Merchant). The three day event was held at the Nashville Convention Center.


Other panelists for The Sessions program included Dom Famularo (The Drumming World’s Global Ambassador), Eddie Bayers, Jr. (Session Drummer), Joe Hibbs (Mapex Artist Relations/Product Development Manager), Carlos Guzman (Production Manager), and Harry McCarthy (Drum Tech & owner of Drum Paradise).

Contract negotiations, entertainment law, marketing, self-promotion, image maintenance, and fundamental techniques were a few of the topics discussed during the conference.

The Sessions is the creation of Jules Follett, author/photographer of Sticks ‘n’ Skins, the world’s premier photojournalistic essay on drummers and their unique world.

KoSA in Italy

Paul Quin, a partner at Saxon, Gilmore, Carraway & Gibbons, P.A., will be speaking on behalf of Sticks n' Skins - The Sessions, at the KoSA conference held in Turin, Italy on Monday, April 23. Panelists will include Joe Hibbs (from Mapex Drums), Dom Famularo (Global Drum Ambassador), Liberty Devitto - international recording artist, and Sue Quin - Session singer and recording artist. The panel is an all-day affair talking about the music business and the difference between EU and American copyright law.

Buddy Rich Memorial Concert

The legendary drummer, Buddy Rich, will be honored with a memorial concert on the 25th anniversary of his passing. Cathy Rich promised her father to keep his music alive and she felt the best way to do it was to hold regular memorial concerts. The first event was held in 1988 at Carnegie Hall in New York and the most recent at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York in 2008. She will co-host this memorial with John Thompson of The Fast Show and Cold Feet, and will present lifetime achievement awards to three rock legends.

The concert will be held in the UK at the London Palladium on April 2. Tickets are currently on sale. Scheduled to appear are Dave Weckl, Gregg Bissonette, John Blackwell and Gregg Potter from the USA and Ian Paice, Ginger Baker, Gavin Harrison and Elliott Henshaw from the UK as well as a special guest appearance from singer Tony Christie.

National Association Music Merchant (NAMM) - Winter Show

Paul M. Quin, a partner at Saxon, Gilmore, Carraway & Gibbons, P.A., was a panelist at the National Association Music Merchant (NAMM) - Winter Show. He was invited to participate in the Sticks 'n' Skins - The Sessions program. The topic of discussion was "Business Skills for an Artists' Path to Success in the Music Industry" and included ways to protect yourself from changes in the music business. Other panelists included Dom Famularo, David Santos, Liberty Devitto, Greg Zeller, Joe Testa, Marco Soccoli, and John Blackwell.
